About me

About me

I am a fully qualified CBT therapist with 2 years of training working with a wide variety of clients. In my clinical placements, I worked with clients on a variety of presenting issues such as anxiety disorders, depression, OCD, anger, self-harming behaviours, low self-esteem and more. I have worked with these clients toward positive outcomes (as assessed by both client report and measures such as CORE, PHQ9, GAD7, etc.). I am an efficient and accurate note taker and can work with counselling IT systems and databases as well as traditional computing tasks. I have an awareness of keeping people safe and continued risk assessment, balancing this with ethical issues such as confidentiality. However, I believe that my most valuable skills are my interpersonal skills and ability to build trust and the therapeutic alliance.

I also hold an honours degree in Psychology from the University Of Strathclyde. I studied all aspects of human psychology and focused on self-esteem for my own research and dissertation.

In my other work, I have many years of experience in the social care system working with persons with learning disabilities, autism spectrum disorders, experience of homelessness, mental illness, substance abuse and many other issues.

That is what I know and what I can do. But many prospective clients may want to know who I am. I'm 30 years old, relaxed and funny (or so I'm told!). Clients have told me that I can provide them with a place where they can explore their issues and feelings without judgement. That they feel safe and secure in session with me and that I am a friendly face, making the therapeutic journey easy for them. I truly believe in the power of CBT to give people a chance to take control of their lives and be the person they wish to be. I will do everything I can to help you with that.
